With the development of the ages in the 21 st century and the change of the international situation, Education for International Understanding(hereafter as “EIU”) attracts extensive attention worldwide. The start of EIU is not only the objective fact, but also a new kind of educational trendThe primary objective of EIU is to promote mutual understanding, tolerance, cooperation and common development among the people of different races, religions and cultures in different regions and countries, strengthening their cooperation in order to understand and handle the major global issues together.Whereas, any kind of educational concept needs to be put into practice through the school curriculum. As far as I know that the subjects in the schools at different stages are increasingly saturated nationwide. The content of the curriculum is also expanded by degrees. Moreover, EIU is scarcely possessed of the characteristics of the traditional academic disciplines. So it is rarely adopted in the school curriculum. Therefore, the elements of EIU, the goals, the constituents, the connotation and the implementation have to be dealt with if we want to integrate EIU into the school curriculum. So this research is going to discuss on Activity Design of EIU in Primary Sectors. The primary students are just in the stage of the development of imaginal thinking. The most effective ways to help them realize the essence of EIU are stories, video clips, games, etc., which can enrich their learning experience. The thesis is going to elaborate the research process and the revelation in six aspects.Part One, Introduction. Here the origin and significance of the research are discussed, mainly focusing on the definition of ‘the primary sector’, ‘EIU curriculum’, “activity design” and their internal logic.Part Two: Literature review. Both the status in quo of this research home and abroad is going to be discussed first, sorting out the relevance, the necessity and the value of implementing EIU in lower grades in primary sectors.Part Three: Strategies of Activity Design. The measures and the effects of the activity design are elaborated in three aspects, the course offering, the basic approaches and the delivery model ofimplementation.Part Four: An overview of Activity Design. The activity design for lower grades in and out of the EIU classroom is summarized in principles, ways of evaluation, presentation modes and the relevant consideration.Part Five: The implementation effects. With the support of the first hand data collected from the students, parents and teachers through surveys and questionnaires, the rationality and promoter action are discussed, as well as its limits.Part Six: Summary. A general picture about how to evaluate an EIU Activity Design is drawn here to rubricate its characteristics and to provide with some practical suggestion.
