Burnout is a state of sub-health which people endure in the face of a variety of workplace stress.Various researches at home and abroad show that teachers are usually at high risk of burnout.Nowadays with the rapid pace of the educational reform,teachers' burnout has become a serious health issue.Just because the specialty of the English teachers in secondary vocational schools,they are suffered more severe burnout compared with those in ordinary high schools.Thus,it is very necessary to help alleviate English teachers' burnout in secondary vocational schools.This thesis aims at studying on the status of English teachers' burnout in vocational schools.The author surveyed and then analyzed the characteristics and causes of the burnout.Through analyzing the factors which influence the English teacher's burnout in vocational schools,the author also gives corresponding countermeasures for the teachers.The research methods for this study are: the literature analysis,the questionnaire,the interview and data analysis.Eight secondary vocational schools in Weifang City were investigated concerning ninety-two English teachers in the questionnaire.The survey results were processed and analyzed by using the percentage calculation method of data.At the same time,some of the English teachers were chosen to be the representative samples to be interviewed on the burnout situation.The results of the questionnaire survey shows that the English teachers' burnout in secondary vocational schools gets higher scores on these two dimensions---mental and physical exhaustion and depersonalization;lower scores on the low-dimensional sense of achievement.All the teachers have high burnout overall.Based on the findings,the author gives some suggestions to alleviate teachers' burnout from three aspects,teachers themselves,school administrators and social regulation,which aim to help alleviate teachers' burnout,and promote the physical and mental harmony and health for the vocational English teachers.
