The origination of higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan can date back the technical college in 1950 s.In recent 70 years,it is practicality-oriented,constantly meeting the needs of economic construction and it has formed integral system of higher technical and vocational education,including Technical College,School of Technology,University of Science and Technology,realizing lateral communication.On the other hand,it adopts multifold ways of enrolling and elastic educational system.Degree granting,divided into associate bachelor,bachelor,master and doctor,is gradually international.Major and course setup cater for industrial needs,and training of students is laid emphasis on industry-academy cooperation,which makes great contribution to “Economic Miracle” in Taiwan.In recent years,in order to promote “Re-creating Plan of Technical and Vocational Education”,reform of technical and vocational education has been performed in system,teachers,courses,educational resources and quality control,looking forward to a splendor future of technical and vocational education in Taiwan.This thesis takes higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan as research object and the research method comprises documentary analysis,field investigation and comparative study.It introduces the development of higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan through relevant literature collecting and field investigation and makes an analysis on its existing condition;it explains the characters of higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan through the introduction of reforms in higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan in recent years;it compares the similarities and differences of higher technical and vocational education between Mainland and Taiwan through analyzing the development history of higher technical and vocational education in Mainland.This thesis aims to provide reference to improve the education system of higher vocational education in Mainland and develop applied undergraduate education.This thesis is made up of introduction and four parts:The first part is the Induction(Chapter I).It mainly explains the study origin,study objective,academic value,literature review,theoretical basis,study method,study basic idea and innovation.The second part is the development overview of higher technical and vocational in Taiwan(Chapter II),including development procedure,reforming and feature.Development procedure of higher technical and vocational in Taiwan is divided into three phases in this thesis,introducing the economic background and achievements of technical and vocational education in three phases.The introduction of development existing condition mainly comprises supervisor,technical and vocational college,personnel training method.In section 2,it states the recent reforms in higher technical and vocational in Taiwan The third part is the development characteristics of higher technical and vocational in Taiwan(Chapter III).It is mainly about the development characteristics of higher technical and vocational in Taiwan in recent years.The forth part is the comparison of vocational education between Taiwan and Mainland(Chapter Ⅳ).Firstly,the development procedure of higher vocational education in Mainland is divided into four phases: beginning,start-up,development and deepening.It separately introduces the different characteristics in different phases and summarizes the existing condition of higher vocational education in Mainland.By comparative research,it analyzes the similarities and differences of higher vocational education between Mainland and Taiwan.The fifth part is the enlightenment of higher technical and vocational education in Taiwan to Mainland(Chapter Ⅴ).This chapter is the essence of this thesis and the conclusion is based on the comparative analysis on the higher vocational education between Mainland and Taiwan.Although the development mode of higher vocational education between Mainland and Taiwan,culture homology and communication provide possibilities for Mainland to learn successful experiences of higher vocational education in Taiwan which brings introspection to higher vocational education in Mainland.
