The present biology education emphasizes teaching around the core concepts and imparting knowledge in a scientific way.The BSCS 5E Instructional Model gradually gains attentions from many educators because of its emphasis on realizing effect delivery of core concept in class and constructing a exploratory classroom with the essence of science.The model consists of five parts: engagement,exploration,explanation,elaboration,evaluation,which is put forward by BSCS according to Atkin-Karplus learning cycle.Thus,it is of great significance to investigate the teaching effectiveness of the the BSCS 5E Instructional Model and then put forward application strategy of the 5E model in high school's biology teaching.In this paper,in order to research on the present situation of the BSCS 5E Instructional Model,a semi-structured depth interview was conduct with the biology teachers in the Dongjiang middle school Affiliated to Guangzhou University that locates in Dongyuan county of Heyuan city.And then two parallel class was selected to make non-equivalent teaching experiments.The control class apply the traditional educational model to their teaching while the experimental class try possibly to use the BSCS 5E Instructional Model.Through the two months of teaching practice,by using WPS form and SPSS19.0 version of the software,"biological interest and attitude evaluation scale" questionnaire survey,test their comprehensive ability and study the typical questions,compared to student academic performance,the Effect of the 5E model in High School Biology Teaching was analyzed.At last,the application strategy of the 5E model in high school biology teaching was proposed in accordance with the result and analysis of the research.The results showed that:1)Biology teachers in that school were more adept at applying the traditional educational model in their teaching,and they have not used the 5E model before.2)Obvious differences appeared in learning interests,while the learning attitudes were not different.but the two classes Compared with the self-learning attitude of the previous test were significant differences;The result showed that the 5E model had great benefits to students' interest in biology,but itplayed an insignificant role in the learning attitude,which could be more relevant to teachers' teaching styles.3)The significant differences in the comprehensive ability test,including 61% of the students Leaving only 30% of the students in the experimental class left blank,indicated that the the 5E Instructional Model would improve students' ability to explore and solve real life problems.4)After one month of the practical teaching,the academic performance of the students in the experimental class was better than that of the control group,but there was no extraordinary differences.After 2 months,the extraordinary differences of academic achievements between two classes prove that the 5E model could help to improve students' biology grades,but it takes a long time to practice.To sum up,only general teachers to carefully selected their teaching contents,continuously improved their professional qualities,made a combination of students' actual study situations and their teaching experiences,could the 5E Instructional Model effectively and flexibly make good use of that model to construct an interesting biology class,and turn its teaching concepts into biology teaching,as well as be spread to more biological theory classes,experimental classes and review classes,thus cultivate more high-quality biology talents for our country and society.
