Researching On The Strategies And Challenges Of Social Work Education In The Universities Of Ho Chi Minh City,Vietnam

Social work is seen as a highly professional job in many countries for more than a century.Social work exists and operates when society appears many problems need to be solved such as poverty,gender inequality,and helping vulnerable cases such as the disabled,elderly,women,orphans,street children,child abuse...The formation and development of social work in Vietnam is no exception to the that rule.Social work is a branch of training which it's only recently introduced to teaching in vocational training system in Vietnam.Although it's new,training needs,research,social activities are necessary and diverse,rich.All universities and colleges in the country have almost opened branch of social work.Indeed today there.are still many shortcomings in the training,research,teaching learning and cooperation on social work.On the other hand,Ho Chi Minh city is seen as the earliest cradle of training social work in Vietnam.This place has trained many human resources to serve and meet the needs of social development activities throughout the country.Looking back the training programs,teaching staff,teaching materials,teaching content,innovative methods and the connections of cooperation in training and research on national and international is essential for the development prospects of this science.With the synthetic methods of data collection,survey questionnaire and analyze the results of the study,finally the author has stated the history of formation and development as well as operational needs of social work in some fields in Vietnam nowadays;to find out about the status of social work education in the universities in Ho Chi Minh city,and analyze the shortcomings and challenges that Vietnam faced during the training process.Moreover,the author has also find out some models of social work in a number of developing countries in the world have influences with the activities of social work education in Vietnam,including China.Since then,the author has proposed measures to develop both the branch of social work and educating in social work in Vietnam.Although these solutions are not really comprehensive and overall,it's somewhat to see the specific context of social work education in Vietnam and should have the directional strategies to develop in the future.
