Vocabulary is the key to the successful language acquisition and communication. As the most important way for students to learn vocabulary, vocabulary teaching has a very high position. A lot of new changes have taken place in our present English teaching because of the implement of new curriculum reform, and how to make a good transition of the English vocabulary teaching from junior middle schools to senior middle schools is one of the major aspects. So the issues on the current transition of English vocabulary teaching from junior to senior schools are well worth our investigation and research. Every English teacher of junior middle schools and senior middle schools must take these questions into consideration, including how to implement a reasonable and effective English teaching, how to help junior school students have a good transition to the senior English learning and how to help them set a solid foundation for a further study.Firstly, the researcher studied and arranged some related articles and information both in and out of China in order to find some aspects that haven't been involved in the previous research by making a good literature review.Secondly, taking the theory of Constructivism, the theory of the Zone of Proximal Development, the Second Language Acquisition Theory, Non-intelligence Factor Theory and quality-oriented education as the theory bases, this research made some investigations into the English vocabulary teaching from junior to senior teachers and students so as to find out the existing problems and countermeasures of the transition of English vocabulary teaching from junior to senior in Fuzhou high schools. In thesis, the research chose 900 teachers and students from 7 schools in Fuzhou city(including 50 English teachers from junior schools,50 English teachers from senior schools and 800 students from middle schools) and 6 education experts to be the research objects. In order to reveal the existing problems of the transition of English vocabulary teaching from junior to senior in Fuzhou high schools objectively, the researcher conducted some questionnaires among the students and teachers, concerning two main points:the teaching and learning.Lastly, with the help of these theories and the analysis of the current situation, the researcher has explored from many aspects to improve it. Furthermore, the researcher got a conclusion according to the existing problems and of the transition of English vocabulary teaching from junior to senior in Fuzhou high schools and proposed some countermeasures.
