Fierce competition in the hotel industry,after all,is the competition of service personnel.Therefore,studying the mode of cultivating hotel service professionals through the modern apprenticeship can not only meet the needs of enterprises,but also is of practical significance to the innovative training model of vocational schools.This paper clarifies the background and significance of the research on the development of the hospitality industry,and analyzes the current situation and progress of the modern apprenticeship at home and abroad.The study found that there has been a comparatively mature mode of cultivating hotel service professionals in foreign countries.This paper provides a theoretical foundation for the study of modern apprenticeship,by analyzing its connotation and characteristics,core elements and system.Then,it lists experiences from the successful cases in western developed countries and China.Furthermore,based on a typical case of a secondary vocational school in Ningbo,it summarizes the current problems,i.e.lack of position diversity,difficult to manage,non-standard evaluation,high staff turnover etc.and analyzes the main hindering factors reflected: the specialty orientation is not clear;The quality of masterscannot be ensured;The school-enterprise cooperation is not thorough enough;The industry is lack of standard;The government’s guarantee is not effective.The basic strategies to perfect the cultivation mode of modern apprenticeship for Hotel Service in secondary vocational schools are as follows:We should get a further understanding of Modern Apprenticeship in Hotel Service;The government needs to establish a systematic guarantee mechanism;The hospitality industry are supposed to develop relevant rules;The school-enterprise cooperation should be deepened,the construction of professional connotation should be enhanced;The quality of the masters in enterprises should be improved.
