In the Yilin edition of Advance with English, the Project section provides diverse extracurricular practice(including practice to improve writing skills and language expression, and those about situational activities, innovation and self-exploration),and it encourages students to finish tasks through division of labor and cooperation.Nevertheless, how does the Project section work? What are the problems and difficulties throughout teaching and learning? In order to answer the above questions,the author has made related researches and proposed some corresponding suggestions.This research bases on the theory of Constructivism and multiple intelligences.Field investigation through questionnaires and interviews has been made in Xinshao No.8 middle school. The research includes four aspects: teachers' attitudes towards Project section, teaching strategies in this part, teaching results and difficulties or problems. Having analyzed the collected data(investigations and interviews) with the help of Excel 2003, the author finds that a majority of the teachers recognize the goal to improve language proficiency and the great role Project section has played to achieve it. However, teachers choose to explain some points about Part A in the class which is short because this part is beyond students' capacity and is not required by the existing college entrance examination system.Worse, Part B is omitted because of all kinds of limitations although some teachers show their willingness to perform teaching tasks.With regard to all the above problems, at the end of the thesis, the author put forward some corresponding suggestions. First, high school leaders should help their teachers change their way of thinking by holding activities to enhance their understanding of the conception of the new curriculum reform and their capacity to put theory into practice by way of exploration and innovation. Second, teacher should prepare their lessons more effectively and teach in a more scientific way so as to play a better role of "mentor". Third, teachers should use various teaching methods and adopt multiple evaluation mechanisms according to circumstances. This means they should use teaching materials in a more innovative way. Only by this can students improve their abilities after practice in the section.
