The security and stability of a nation is the basis and guarantee of all individuals’ security.Our party and state place great emphasis on the work of maintaining national security all the time. Since the 18 th Community Party of China,it has established National Safety Council which proposed "The overall national security concept", made《The national security strategy》,passed the first《The National Security Law of the People’s Republic of China》and set Civil National Security Education Day on every year’s April 15.College students are the backbone of the nation and the college students’ national security education situation directly affects our Country’s long-term stability. The "Situation and Policy" course is in close combination with the situation in and outside China,which is an ideological and political education curriculum systematically educates college students the Party’s line, principles and policies. This study starts from the necessity of strengthening college students’ National Security Education and analyzes the feasibility of strengthening the National Security Education in the “Situation and Policy” course through three aspects as follows: "Situation and Policy" course’s contents, "Situation and Policy" course’s educational functions and the National Security educational contents in the “Situation and Policy” course. And then I have surveyed the current teaching status of “situation and policy” course in N university, I have deliberated and concluded that the National Security education in the “situation and policy” course has four aspects’ problems like unreasonable National Security Education and teaching organization without awareness of state security orientation, immethodical teaching contents without direction and timeliness,single teaching method and means with poor teaching effectiveness, varied National Security Education and teaching assessment methods, assessment contents and criteria. Based on above issues, this paper proposes suggestions of strengthening the course management and the construction of National Security educational teaching staff to improve schools and teachers ’ awareness on the importance and role of the course, optimizing the design of the situation and policy course’s objectives and contents and improving the curriculum’s implementation system to strengthen national security education.
