Research-oriented learning is an important way to develop the student's practical ability and creativity, which is an important matter, healthy debated topic and also a challenge. Its establishment and broad enforcement greatly meet the needs of society development and is demand of educational trends. Research-oriented learning arises at the historic moment under the new curriculum reform background, then mathematical Research-oriented learning inquiry learning course.Research-oriented learning has been implemented in China's senior high school curriculum system for several more years, but it has not been made universal in ethnic minority areas where economic backwardness and educational less development, the research-oriented learning of mathematics in particular, a branch of research-oriented learning, has not been popularized. So what influenced its implementation? How to perfectly conduct research-oriented learning of mathematics to cultivate innovation spirit and practice ability and improve mathematical literacy of students in ethnic minority areas? Based on the macro-background of Chinese current basic education curriculum reform and the situation of senior high school education reform at ethnic minority areas, this paper makes a survey and research on the implementation of research-oriented learning of mathematics in seven senior high schools at three counties of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture with methods of literature, questionnaire and interview.Through the analysis of the survey results, it is found substantially that the implementation of research-oriented learning of mathematics in senior high schools at ethnic minority areas is not optimistic. There are many problems in it, basically,students and teachers lack of knowledge about the value of research-oriented learning of mathematics, supports from schools and parents are insufficient, implementation of research-oriented learning of mathematics is pessimistic, students' selection of a subject is blind and teachers' guidance is inadequate, as well as the implementation and assessment of research-oriented learning of mathematics are irregular. Other elementsthat influenced the practice of the curriculum are as follows; curriculum itself,social and family, management system of schools, professional quality of teachers and students' cognition on mathematic-learning. In view of the problems in the implementation of research-oriented learning of mathematics, and according to relevant theories and domestic practices on curriculum implementation, this paper try to put forward some improvement measures:(1)schools should formulate and improve implementation on research-based learning of mathematics system;(2)schools should offer courses in light with practical conditions;(3) teacher's professional ability should be improved;(4)teachers should apopt workable teaching methods.
