The basic perspective and fundamental approach is based on the geography of space, an intuitive map sign language, intrinsic spatial information, miniature plane perspective becomes the only way to learn geography.The new geography curriculum standards to be issued emphasizes core geographic literacy,and The map capability is an organic composition of the core geographic literacy.Cultivation of map ability also meets capability-oriented tendency of current international geography education reform. Therefore, the majority of students and teachers should focus on and pay attention to cultivate map ability.This article uses the documentation method,the questionnaire,text analysis,combined with statistical analysis and case studies to analysis.analyzing the map ability requirements in image system from the aspect of textbook and analyzing map-teaching state in Guangyi Exprimental Middle School from the aspect of teaching.then combined with case based strategy.This paper is divided into three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion,First of all, the introduction part narrates research background, analyses the research progress at home and abroad, puts forward the theoretical basis,makes clear research content and methods.The body part is composed of three parts:textbook text analysis, questionnaire data analysis and strategy.Firstly, text analysis defines the core concept in this paper, the map and map ability,which is generalized, that is, the geographical image and geographical image ability,Secondly,363 geographic images of the new geography textbook for grade seven(in two volumes),published by Hunan Publishing House in 2012,are divided into four major categories,that is geographical distribution map, geographical landscape picture,geographic schematic graph,geographic statistical chart,and twelve subcategories based on substance Then to analyze features of geography image in textbooks and specific corresponding map capability chapter by chapter (the ability to identify images, the ability to interpret drawings, the ability to analysis graphs, the ability to draw graphs, the ability to use diagram).Again,the article selects seventh-grade student of Hunan Guangyi Experimental Middle School in changsha as object of the study,By issuing and analyzing questionnaire,it reveals the map-learning status of seventh-graders as follow:Map ability is still insufficient, the mind map mode is not mature, the map teaching is too single and limited effect, etc. According to the analysis of the above causes,strategy section proposes seven teaching strategies,from stimulating interest in learning, cultivating map emotion and value, paying attention to the reading program and graph analysis method, strengthening drawing demonstration and practice, guiding map-using practice, constructing the mind map,to map-guiding teaching.
