The Geometer’s Sketchpad is an excellent educational software which appropriates to the mathematics teaching. It can change static graphics into dynamic, abstract concepts into image, and boring contents into interesting. By helping to create a good teaching circumstances, students can be allowed to observe dynamically, in order to explore and discover the spatial structure and quantity relationship, and then promote the capacity of knowledge understanding and holding. It is a request in the new century for teachers to master the information technology and apply it into the class teaching. “The Mathematics Curriculum Standards of Normal High School(Experimental)” which promulgated by The Ministry of Education Proposed that we should promote using the information technology to present the course content which is difficult to present in the traditional class, as possible as using different kinds of mathematical educational technology platforms, strengthening the combination of mathematics teaching and information technology, and achieving the integration between information technology and curriculum contents.By reading a variety of literatures and getting the experience which from the process of using the Geometer’s Sketchpad, this paper is committed to research the advantages and disadvantages of the Geometer’s Sketchpad and its application in middle school mathematics teaching. It is mainly divided into the following steps:Step 1: Through collecting and arranging a large amount of literature data, this paper analyzed the background as well as the significance of research, and analyzed the researching present situation about Geometer’s Sketchpad in the domestic and overseas. This paper also put forward the key problems and research methods which is going to be solved. At the same time, introduced to what the Geometer’s Sketchpad is and what the characteristics of Geometer’s Sketchpad are. It also analyzed the status of Geometer’s Sketchpad in mathematics teaching.Step 2: As the research respondents for parts of middle school teachers in Kaifeng and teachers who participated into“ the National Training Plan” in 2015, and as the research object for the situation which using the Geometer’s Sketchpad, we found that few teachers using the Geometer’s Sketchpad in class teaching and most of them are not familiar with the information technology by analyzing the questionnaire survey.Step 3: on the basis of the above steps and through the typical case, this paper researched the advantages of using the Geometer’s Sketchpad in middle school mathematics teaching. We advocate making the Geometer’s Sketchpad apply into the class teaching and hope that more teachers and the Geometer’s Sketchpad lovers can join themselves into the team which using the Geometer’s Sketchpad to assist teaching.
