Education is the cornerstone of national rejuvenation and social progress, the general goal of educational development is to establish satisfactory education for people. With the speeding up of the social transformation, the educational fairness of the disadvantaged groups has drawn more and more attentions. Owing to the traditional binary household registration system in our country, the specialists focus on urban disadvantaged much lower than the countryside. This essay aims to research the urban disadvantaged students. In order to provide the direction for the formulation and implementation of educational compensation policy, firstly, we compare the current situation of learning and livelihood in family background, family education, academic achievement, and private supplementary tutoring between urban disadvantaged students and advantaged students, secondly, we analyze the current situation of the urban disadvantaged students and find out what they want about educational compensation.From the study, we can find there is significant difference between urban disadvantaged students and advantaged students in family background, family education, academic achievement, and private supplementary tutoring. Compared with urban advantaged students, the parents of urban disadvantages are lower educated, and living in poor life. In family education, urban disadvantages mentor less and pay little attention to methods when communicate with children, and have the lower self-satisfaction and education expectations. Furthermore, urban disadvantages have worse academic achievement. In addition, the quality of private supplementary tutoring of urban disadvantages is poor compared with kinds, time and price. That is to say, the urban disadvantaged students are in disadvantaged situation in family background, family education, academic achievement, and private supplementary tutoring.Moreover, in funding and non-financial support, the current situation of educational compensation between urban disadvantaged students and advantaged students is similar, but the satisfaction of urban disadvantages about educational compensation is lower. For the demands,76.0% of the investigated need family education, which is more obviously in urban disadvantages. Both of them hope obtain professional family education from the various guidance provided by school in the form of books, newspapers or lectures.The study suggests that the government and social groups should pay more attention to urban disadvantaged students, broaden the way of educational compensation and establish the system of the educational compensation about urban disadvantaged students.
