In this paper, the problem of the proportion of ethnic minorities on the first census period in Guangxi is studied. After the Ming Dynasty,Guangxi national population proportion has long been vaguely described as “Barbarian seven Civil three”, “Civil three Zhuang seven”, but it was not until the time of the first census reversed to “Civil three Zhuang three”.Taking the national identity as the breakthrough point in the 1950's,the proportion of the national population of Guangxi on the first census period is studied.Either from the longitudinal span of history and reality, for Guangxi national population proportion and determine the historical turning point of diachronic considered. And from the horizontal a synchronic interpretation of 1950's Guangxi national population proportion and ethnic relations. The first census period of the national population data are based on the national identity of the 1950's.National identity is a complex process, the state power in the process of intervention and play a leading role in the whole process. For the needs of the construction of the new regime, China has carried out the census work, in this process, the proportion of national population can be quantified. The proportion of the national population in Guangxi has been a historical turning point. It is very difficult to truly understand the historical turning point of the proportion of the national population of Guangxi if we only stay in the analysis of the proportion of the population in Guangxi after liberation. Therefore, discusses the growth and decline of the Guangxi ethnic population structure become inevitable, after the Qin and Han Dynasties, with the gradual formation of the unified multi nationality common homeland, Han Chinese in Guangxi and other factors has been changing Guangxi ethnic composition of the population. On this basis, we can better understand why the proportion of national population in Guangxi after the founding of the country gradually stabilized, and maintained within a certain range, rather than a larger change. Finally taking the village in Lingyun County as an example to further explore Guangxi national population proportion determination and historical turning point, attempts to explain the formation process of the multi ethnic common homeland in the micro region.
