| According to the National English Curriculum for Senior Students, the main teaching task is to arouse students’ interest, cultivate students’ self confidence, develop good learning habits, form effective learning strategies, and acquire the ability of autonomous learning. The new curriculum reform advocates student-centered teaching methods, rather than teacher-centered method. However, in the practical use, the effect of autonomous learning is not that prominent. The current situation is students still rely on teachers. They can’t put the notion of autonomy into practice. They are short of interest in reading. There is still a long way to go to achieve our goals. Thus, after investigating the short of autonomous learning of students in senior high school’s English class, the guided learning plan is applied to practice students’ study and ensure their dominate role in class as well as make sure that their autonomous learning ability in English reading can be improved. In this study, with the guidance of the theory of Constructivist and humanistic, from September, 2015 to January, 2016, the author carried out a research on the application of guided learning plan in students’ autonomous reading through testing, questionnaire survey, interview, observation research and exploration. The research is to explore whether it could improve students’ ability and develop the strategies of autonomous reading. From the research, the author draws the conclusion that guided learning plan is an effective way to improve students’ ability of autonomous reading. Guided learning plan can stimulate the motivation of students’ autonomous reading. Guided learning plan makes great contribution to the high efficiency class of English reading teaching.
