As a relatively important measure to evaluate the overall quality and all-round ability of a student,English reading is always the focus and difficult point in English learning, the most important problem for senior high school students' English learning is English reading. Many scholars have pay much attention to how to improve the efficiency of English reading. After many years of English teaching reform and practice, both stratified teaching and guided learning plan are commonly used in English classrooms by teachers at present, and there are many scholars abroad and at home who pay much attention to these two teaching modes separately, however, the research on combining the two is rare.At the same time, because of the change of teaching objects, not all students can use the original teaching guide effectively. As a result, the author thinks that the stratified Guided Learning Plan Teaching Mode is a beneficial attempt.GLP teaching mode, characterized by autonomous, cooperative and exploratory learning,is a new type of teaching mode, reflecting the teaching principles “teachers as instructors, students as subjects”,as well as in accord with the requirements of quality-oriented education and the curriculum reform. At present, many schools have carried out GLP Teaching Mode, among which is No.11 senior high school of Zhengzhou. This experimental senior high school has used GLP teaching mode for about ten years, but there is no research to verify whether this mode is effective,or whether the design of learning plan is suitable for students at all levels in this school. So the author makes the research to verify whether Stratified GLP have more active influence on students' English reading, including the following questions:(1)What are students' opinions on existing GLP in No.11 senior high school?(2)Can this teaching mode of Stratified GLP help improve high school students' reading achievements? If yes,to what degree does this mode improve their achievements among the three levels students?(3)What influence does the Stratified GLP have on different levels of students' English reading in No.11 Senior High School?(including their autonomous reading ability, their attitudes towards English reading and their reading skills and strategies.)In order to answer the above questions, the author makes one semester experiment from September,2016 to January 2017 in No.11 senior high school, considering the scientificity of the sample, this author chooses 50 students from advanced class and 50 students from ordinary class as the experiment subjects in grade two, totally 100 students, and the two classes are taught by the same teacher with same teaching material and the same class hours, but different level learning plan. The instrument used in this research includes pre-test and post-test,questionnaires,classroom observation and interview. The data collected is analyzed by SPSS 20.0.Based on the result of the experiment, the author makes conclusion that students at all levels indeed make a big progress of English reading with Stratified GLP,which not only improves their achievements, students autonomous learning and strategy using, but also changes their attitude toward English reading.
