Purpose: To obtain the objective data of the elderly daily physical activity and sedentary behavior by using three axis acceleration sensor, and through the questionnaire to understand the way of elderly physical activity, analysis of related factors of the elderly physical activity status and effect of physical activity quantity for elderly. In order to increase physical activity quantity in the elderly, and to provide the scientific basis for improving the health of the elderly.Method: The sample included 59 elderly family residential district of Nanjing Sport Institute, male 26, female 33, age at 60-79 years old. Participants wore three axis accelerometers for 7 days to get the data of elderly light intensity activity time, moderate intensity activity time, sedentary behavior time, energy consumption and METs. At the same time using physical activity daily and questionnaire to obtain dietary diary aged physical activity and chronic diseases status. Data entry and finishing was carried out with EXCEL software. Data were analyzed by JMP10 software. Results: 1. The participants of the elderly effective wear days was 6.4±0.6h/d and the average daily effective wear time is 15.6±1.5h/d, to ensure the validity. 2. The participants of overweight and obesity in the elderly accounted for the total number of 41%, normal body type accounted for 56%, slim type accounted for 3%. 3. In the intensity of physical activity in the elderly, the elderly light intensity physical activity time was 4.7±1.5h/d, moderate intensity physical activity time was 0.6±0.3h/d, sedentary behavior physical activity time was 9.7±2.3h/d; Average daily energy consumption of the elderly was 404.5±165.6kcals and average daily MET was 1.5±0.15 METs. 4. On the relationship between gender and physical activity in the elderly male sedentary behavior was 10.4±2.3h and the sedentary behavior time of female was 9.2±2.2h. The light intensity physical activity time of the male was 4.1±1.2h and the light intensity physical activity time of the female was 5.2±1.4h. There were significant differences between sedentary behavior and light intensity of the male and sedentary behavior and light intensity of the female(P=0.0445*<0.05, P=0.0019*<0.01). There were no significant differences between moderate intensity and vigorous intensity of the male and moderate intensity and vigorous intensity of the female(P=0.2208>0.05,P=0.4687>0.05). 5. The relationship between gender and energy consumption, MET in the elderly and the relationship between the elderly weekday and weekend of the met and the energy consumption. Elderly men average daily energy consumption was 422.4±204.0kcals and elderly women average daily energy consumption was 390.4±129.3kcals. There were no significant differences between the two(P=0.4893>0.05). Elderly men average daily MET was 1.4±0.14METs and elderly women average daily MET was 1.5±0.14 met. There were significant differences between the two(P=0.0450*<0.05); Average daily energy consumption at weekday in the elderly was 414.9±172.5kcals and average daily energy consumption at weekend in the elderly was 383.2±171.2kcals. There were significant differences between the two(P=0230*<0.05); Average daily MET at weekday in the elderly was 1.5±0.15 kcals and average daily MET at weekend in the elderly was 1.5±0.15. There were no significant differences between the two(P=0.0843<0.05).6. The relationship between BMI and the way of physical activity and physical activity intensity. There were significant differences between the normal weight of light intensity physical activity and the not normal(P=0.0279*<0.05). 7. The relationship between chronic disease and the way of physical activity and physical activity intensity. There were significant difference of chronic diseases the elderly daily moderate intensity physical activity time and no chronic diseases. Chronic diseases in elderly people every day of moderate intensity physical activity time was 0.58±0.36 h and no chronic diseases in elderly people every day of moderate intensity physical activity time was 0.8±0.28 h, P=0.0209*<0.05. However, the data show: the elderly household activities, amateur exercise, travel business, light intensity physical activity and static behavior and the elderly have no chronic disease related. 8. In the questionnaire data of three axis accelerometers (MET and sedentary behavior time) check in. The data show: the questionnaire MET was 1.70±0.32 met and three axis accelerometers MET was 1.48±0.15 met. So the data of the MET in the questionnaires were overestimated. The questionnaire sedentary behavior time was 4.87±1.62 h and sedentary behavior time of the three axis accelerometers was 9.73±2.30. So the data of the sedentary behavior time in the questionnaires were underestimated. Results: 1. Physical activity levels in the elderly was generally good. The light intensity physical activity was 4.7±1.5h/d and the moderate intensity physical activity was 0.6±0.3h/d. Reached the proposed America elderly a week of moderate intensity physical activity. The sedentary behavior time was 9.7±2.3h/d. 2. Gender was related with physical activity. The level of male was higher than female in physical activity and the level of female was higher than male in light intensity physical activity. 3. There were no significant differences between physical activity at weekday and physical activity at weekend. 4. The elderly daily physical activity was mainly engaged in the housework, and sedentary behavior of elderly occupied 2/3 of daily life for the elderly time. 5. More moderate intensity physical activity can reduce the risk of elderly with chronic diseases. 6. Physical activity questionnaire statistical mode converted met overestimated, the sedentary behavior time underestimated.
