Since 1990 s, the popularization of higher education started, as did some new quality problems. Student centered also began to be significant, as a result, learning and development of undergraduates was turned into research emphasis as well. Social interaction of undergraduates has an important effect on learning outcome, but problems exist at the same time. This research analyses effect of social interaction to learning outcome by empirical research technique, and the research purpose is to elucidate the mechanism of academic interaction and social interaction.Vincent Tinto proposed the theory of Student Departure from High Education, and his achievement provides theoretical basis and research approach for this paper.This research takes H University as an example to investigate its current situation of teacher-students interaction, student-students interaction and learning outcome. The research results have three points, the first one is that the degree of teacher-students interaction is normal, the second one is degree of student-students interaction is good and the last one is the degree of undergraduates’ learning outcome improves significantly on subjects knowledge, humanistic quality, innovation thought and ability, internationalization visions, comprehensive ability.Through the analysis and classification of the data, this thesis finds out two problems, the first one is that the degree of normal academic interaction is normal, the second one is the finding doesn’t show positive correlation between social interaction and learning outcome.Three causes contribute to those problems above, the first reason is that teachers and students don’t have sufficient understanding of the importance of social interaction, teachers value research too much to interact with students. the second reason is the lack of social interaction support in universities, social interaction is not paid enough attention, the approaches support social interaction are also insufficient, which mostly interacts through classroom teaching.Based on the theory of Student Departure from High Education, this research offer four suggestions, which include a good interactive mode between teachers and students, harmonious peer relationship, favourable social interaction environment that is student-centered, improving students’ consciousness on social interaction. Through constructing a harmonious pattern, social interaction could improve the interaction degree between teachers and students and the positive impact of social interaction on learning outcome.
