In recent years,Chinese research universities gradually view internationalization as development strategy to build high-level universities.Faculty engagement in internationalization is not only the “engine” for promoting the development of university internationalization,but also an important way to promote their own professional development.On the one hand,the study on faculty e ngagement in internationalization in research universities can enrich the theory of faculty development;on the other hand,it can provide reference for the formulation of internationalization policy and faculty development strategy.Using SPSS17.0 software to analyze the sampling data from professional teachers in three research universities in China,the main findings are as follows:Firstly,the degree of faculty engagement in internationalization in research universities is significantly higher than it in non-reaearch universities,but it remains to be further improved.Secondly,faculty in research universities emp hasize research internationalization, teaching and social service internationalization being relatively neglected. Thirdly,there is a significant positive correlation between faculty's internationalization degree and professional development.With doctoral degree,senior title and postgraduate tutor qualification, faculty obviously have more internationallization behavior.Fourthly,foreign education e xperience, internationallization attitude and knowledge have a direct impact on faculty's internationalization degree,among which the most influential factor is foreign education experience.Fifthly,foreign education experience has positive influence on the two intermediary variables of internationalization attitude and knowledge,through which it can indirectly influence faculty's internationalization degree.The analysis results of the influencing factors provide suggestions for developing faculty engagement in internationalization:building the platform of cooperation with foreign universities to exchange faculty;designing the incentive program to improve faculty's internationalization willingness;cultivating faculty's learning organization focusing on internationalization knowledge;playing the constructive role of faculty development center to coordinate;drawing up systematic plans of university internationalization development.
