Through participant observation,case interview and scale survey,combined with the method of quantitative measurement and qualitative analysis,this paper studies the intercultural communication of 231 Uygur and Han senior high school students of 2016 grade in Ruoqiang County Middle School.In the aspect of emotion of intercultural communication,the scale survey was conducted based on the questions and methods used by Chen Guo-Ming and William J.Starosta in the development of intercultural sensitivity scale(ISS),which extracted 6 factors: Interaction Avoidance,Interaction Confidence,Interaction Un-comfortableness,Interaction Enjoyment,Interaction Attentiveness,and Respect for Cultural Differences.The comparative analysis of 6 factors shows that the intercultural sensitivity of these two groups are on the moderate level in general.And on the basis of this situation,puts forward an intercultural sensitivity scale which is suitable for the local cultural background of China.In the aspect of behavior and cognition of intercultural communication,by using participant observation and the case interview give a specific content description of Uygur and Han students' intercultural communication in 4 aspects,which are the interaction in festivals and activities,the mutual assistance in learning,the situation of making friends and the interaction between Uygur and Han students in dormitory.We can conclude 3 characteristics: low communication frequency,superficial communication and imbalance of communication foundation.3 important factors affect the intercultural communication between Uygur and Han students,which are the differences in religion and customs,culture and psychology,and finds out the educational dilemma faced by some students.Finally,give the corresponding suggestions to promote the development of Uygur and Han students themselves and the interaction of each other,and develop the friendly,united,harmonious and benign ethnic relationship.
