Yang Wei,whose secondary personal name is Bo Qian.Meng Shan and Er Shan are his aliases.Others also call him “Mr.Er Shan”.When he was 80,he changed his alias to Man Weng.His home is in Haifeng(where we called Wudi today)of Shandong Province.In the twenty-sixth year of Jiajing,Yang Wei was admitted to the Jinshi and was appointed as the Wujin County administrator.He has served as an official of the three dynasties of Jiajing,Longqing and Wanli.His highest official position is the Personnel department chief.He is a clean,honest person.He is fair.Whether he is an official in the court or the local government,his reputation is very prominent.During his tenure as Wujin county governor,he teach the people by law,he had great methods in managing county.When he defense thieves in Shanxi and Shanxi,he was good at army management and often won the battle;he served as the chief of finance,engineering and personnel departments,fulfilled his duties,kept his incorruptness.However,because of his bluntness,he was often defamed.In the “Shang Xun Incident” and “Shi Baoshan Incident”,Yang disclosed the issue to the Ministry of Justice and offended the officials,so be removed to local department.In the“Wang Dachen incident”,he persuaded Zhang Juzheng to handle the matter fairly and convicted Wang Dachen of the crime of theft,while he provoked Zhang Juzheng;In the case of the test proposition “Da Yu was appointed”and “The Case of Zhang Juzheng Being Hacked”,he defended Gao Qiyu and Zhang Juzheng,made officials impeach him.Fortunately,officials such as Xu Guo and Shen Li defended him,and he was trusted by the Emperor Shenzong,so made him safe.He loves kindness and filial piety.He admires retire and low-key.He had petitioned the emperor about 30 times for retirement,eventually returned to his hometown.At home,he honored his mother,educated children,helped the poor,studied Buddhism,and made friends.He made great achievements in literary creation.He published a poetry collection called “Meng Shan's poems in his home”.Wang Shizhen,Zhu Yizun,and Chen Tian of the Qing Dynasty praised him and said that his ancient poetry has the style of Tao Yuanming,and his rhyme poetry has been passed on by the Tang Dynasty poets.In the chronicle,I will linearly unfold the life story of Yang Wei in order to show his political actions,literary contributions,social situations,and hobbies.At the same time,I hope to reflect the status of officialdom and society in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.
