Xia Yan,whose secondary personal name is Gong Jin,was born in Guixi of JiangXi Province.In the 12 th year of Zhengde,he was admitted to the Jinshi in the imperial exams,then granted as a pedestrian and later promoted to the official Decadence.In the Jiajing dynasty,he was informed by the emperor because of offering sacrifices to gods or ancestors.And his official went to the junior preceptor of the heir apparent,Minister of the Ministry,the master of the Wuying Temple and imperial Minister of State.Later,because he discussed how to restore the Hetao,he was framed by Yansong and was killed.Xia yan was an outstanding official.He not only managed the daily ritual of temples and royal ceremonies,but also rectified the official sect,reformed the imperial examination system;investigated sham officer,surveyed the farmland;and consolidated border,combated separatist forces.Xia yan had rich works of poetry and prose,which had been in harmony with many figures such as Fei Hong,Yan Song,Zhang Bang qi,Lu Shen.The content of poems and prose was an important material to support the study of Xia Yan's life.Based on the social background at that time and the personal experience of the master,according to the records of Ming dynasty's historical materials and other relevant collections,and sorting by year,month and day,the chronicle reviewed Xia Yan's offical career by chronology,and gave a comprehensive description of his political achievements and literary creation.In addition,an appendix was also used to show his social contacts and his writing version,so as to show his own personal life status and the complicated political relations at that time and the influence of the powerful current of The Times on Xia Yan's official career.
