Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, human civilization has developed to an unprecedented height, bringing about the upgrading of technology in all walks of life. The communication networks that are used to ensure the safety and stability of the power grid are attracting more and more attention and playing an increasingly important role.In this regard, some western countries have provided better research experience and richer cases than China. However, there aren’t enough translators to do the work or references to turn to in China. Therefore, this report attempts to explore the translation strategies and techniques for such texts, and summarize related experience, with the aim of providing reference for later researchers. This translation report selects the second chapter of Utility Communication Networks and Services as the materials for translation and study. The book is one of the CIGRE green books.Chapter Two focuses on the provision of utility-grade communication services. This report takes Chapter Two as an example to record the overall process of the translation: pre-translation preparations, the translation process,post-translation review as well as the polish and conclusion. In order to make the analysis and explanation of this report more professional and more persuasive, this report has employed the Skopos theory of German Functionalist School to analyze the features, principles and strategies of the technical text.At last, the translation methods for science-and-technology English on this subject was presented and some suggestions for translators engaged in relevant work were also put forward, which not only enriches the translation of scientific and technical English, but also provides skills for future translators, providing some experience for the further development of that field.
