| One of the main approaches for China’s scientific research achievements to go abroad is the translation of Chinese scientific and technical literatures into English.The quality of translation greatly determines the recognition of China’s research achievements in the world.Therefore,it is of absolute necessity to deeply investigate into the translation of Chinese scientific and technical literatures into English.This report discusses the C-E translation of New Processors for Data-Intensive Computing(Excerpt).This report takes Skopos Theory as the theoretical basis,lists translation examples from both the source text and the target text and clarifies translation strategies applied by the translator.Accurate translation of polysemy and omission of redundant information are used to make the translation precise and concise;substitution of adverbials and application of colons offer the translation logic and coherence;substitution of verbs and addition of sentence constituents make the translation loyal to its author’s intention.The defects of this translation practice are that the translator lacks basic knowledge of computer science and some language flaws in the source text add difficulties to translating.The conclusions of this translation practice are as follows: Skopos Theory can guide the C-E translation of scientific and technical literatures;PRECISION shall be the first priority in the C-E translation of scientific and technical literatures to accurately show research achievements;the translation of scientific and technical literatures shall be precise,concise,logical and coherent to achieve its communicative purpose in the target language;various translation strategies can be adopted to balance the differences between Chinese and English.This report is expected to be of some help in scientific and technical literature translation. |
