A Report On The Translation Of Petroleum Geology And Reservoirs(Excerpts)

This is a translation report which is based on the author's translation practice.It is an excerpt originated from the Professional Engineering Development Program(PEDP)of Engineering Services of Arabian American Oil Company(Saudi Aramco).It is very important for experts of petroleum geology to explore and develop hydrocarbon reservoirs.In order to develop a hydrocarbon reservoir correctly,they must study the local geological situations and conditions.This translation material mainly consists of the formation of different types of rocks and geological conditions for hydrocarbon production.The author tries to study the professional discourse system of Petroleum Geology and hopes to present a more normative target text.There are four parts in this translation report,including task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.The first part mainly consists of the brief introduction and analysis of source text.The second part introduces preparations before translation,process of translation and reprocessing of the first translation version.The third part is to analyze the translation of vocabularies,long and difficult sentences and discourse from a perspective of discourse system of petroleum geology.The last part includes the experience and enlightenment of the author during translation process and some problems unsolved.The author tries her best to provide a better translation version for target readers through this translation report and translation material.
