A Report On The Translation Of Two English Theses About Petroleum Equipments

This report is finished based on the translation practice of two English articles about petroleum equipments. As a branch of scientific English, Petroleum English is characterized with objectiveness in contents, complexity in structures and of great logic and specialty. In consideration of the above features, the translator adopts many translation skills to help finish translating the two theses.After translation, the translator demonstrates the whole process by analysis, in which problems and difficulties encountered during the process as well as their corresponding solutions are illustrated. By detailing the ways conquering obstacles such as terminologies, complicated structures and how to handle the coherence of the discourse, the translator presents the skills used during the practice and concludes translation strategies for petroleum translation. Thus, the translator wishes to share his gains with and thereby to benefit the other translators dedicating in petroleum English translation.
