| Against the backdrop of globalization and glocalization today,the international communication of discourse in Chinese,or to put it simply,“translating China”,has turned out to be one of the central concerns of translation studies in China.Jin Wan Bao Overseas Edition,a comprehensive newspaper established in Tianjin,is playing an important role in the interaction between Tianjin and the rest of the world.Jin Wan Bao Overseas Edition has become a platform to publicize Tianjin’s favorable investment environment by covering policies and economic development of Tianjin.The report presents the translation of nine typical current affairs news texts the author translated.The author tries to depict a complete translation process in this report when giving findings of the report and suggestions for further studies.The author hopes this report will offer references for the translation of current affairs texts of Jin Wan Bao Overseas Edition and shed some light for the translation of locally-focused current affairs news.Under the guidance of functional theories,the author lays a stress on pre-translation preparation from which a translator may benefit a lot.Good preparation work yields twice the result with half the effort in the actual translation process.In the translation process,the author illustrates some difficulties a translator may confront with at lexical,syntactical and discourse level and gives corresponding strategies.Some adjustments made at pragmatic level are also included in this report.Post-translation process is concerned with quality control.The target text should be checked by the author himself,his partners and the supervisor to ensure a qualified translation. |
