A Report On The Translation Of Hotel Informative Text

As economic and cultural activities become more frequent against the background of globalization,informative texts have been steadily increasing.Informative texts originate from various fields,convey objective information,and demonstrate practical functions,thus playing an increasingly significant role in cultural dissemination.Obviously,translating and studying informative texts are of great significance.By analyzing examples from the author's own translation of Marriott Autograph Hotel,this report explores the feasibility of the theoretical guide and techniques for translation of a hotel appraisal report,an informative text.First,the report analyzes the linguistic features of the text on the levels of words and sentences.Next,it proves such translation techniques as amplification,omission,conversion of word classes,retainment of the original order,alteration of the original sequence,conversion of the voices,and splitting & restructuring of involved sentences.The author attaches much importance to the combination of theory with practice and analyses many typical examples.Thus,she is able to conclude that the translator of informative texts is supposed to follow the principles of functionalism,accuracy and readability so as to produce appropriate versions.The report is intended to verify the effective function of communicative translation and to prove the feasibility of major techniques for translation of informative texts so that it may help novices improve their translation.
