Shinan Yu,being taught by Zhiyong,was a famous calligrapher in early Tang dynasty,and the calligraphy of him is full of Xizhi Wang’s style.Shinan Yu was the most important people who brought the Wang Style into Tang Dynasty.In addition,his calligraphy style was the inheritance of Southern Dynasties and the beginning of Tang dynasty,which not only played a huge guiding role in the formation of the calligraphy style of the early Tang Dynasty,but also showed the direction for the development of calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty.This study is divided into three parts.First,compile the life time table of Shinan Yu through the description of his political career and brief introduction of his life,forming a more three-dimensional image of him,which makes it easier for the research.Second,explore the calligraphic art of Shinan Yu.Summarizing the calligraphic style of Shinan Yu by analyzing his calligraphy works and studying his scholarly thoughts.Finally,the connection between the calligraphy of Yu Shinan and the early Tang Dynasty was discussed to prove the achievement of Yu Shinan’s.
