The practice report is based on the translation of chapter 4 and section 1 of chapter 6 in Economics and Ethics: An Introduction,co-authored by Amitava Krishna Dutt and Charles K.Wilber.The book focuses on market studies from perspectives of economics and ethics together. It emphasizes that people's life is closely linked with economic activities and ethics. This report mainly focuses on the problems encountered in the process of translation, and the solutions based on the use of different translation strategies.Firstly, this report analyzes the background and language features of the selected text.It finds that the economics and ethics text is concise, compact and logical, conveying as much information as possible in simple language.Secondly, the report analyzes the difficulties encountered in the process of translation and how to solve these problems with functional equivalence theory, such as the deviation of word meanings, the handling of long sentences and the lack of background knowledge on economics and ethics. On this basis, the translator puts forward some suggestions on how to solve similar problems. Finally, the report summarizes the experience of this translation practice and puts forward some advice to the future work.It is hoped that the translation practice will contribute to the future translation work.
