English-chinese Translation Obstacles Caused By Confusion In Surface Structure And Relevent Strategies

Cultural exchanges between China and the west have been deepened with the development of the society.Meanwhile,a large amount of English social science documents and works are translated into Chinese.These English social science documents and works truly enlarge the knowledge and expand the horizon of Chinese readers.However,the quality and reviews of certain translation works are unsatisfactory to some degree.Translators shall be fully responsible for the overall quality.Based on field research on the comments of translation books online,the author summarized three imperfections in Chinese translation works: lack of logical connections,explicitation and simplification deficiency,unpractical expressions.Therefore,the author did an empirical study of an English-Chinese translation project to bring up practical and adaptable translation strategies in order to produce hints on how to improve the Chinese readers' reading experience.This paper will analyze a case in the translation of a social science book: The Future of Violence: Robots and Germs,Hackers and Drones—Confronting A New Age of Threat to eventually give out certain practical and adaptable translation strategies in English-Chinese translation.
