| Clean air is what humans depend on for survival. However, along with the development of social economy, natural environment has been seriously and irreversibly damaged and air pollution has been and will continue to be a big health hazard in a global context for a long time, especially in China.Air pollution has become an unavoidable hotpot in the field of psychology nowadays.Based on the result of literature research, this paper presented a new idea of air quality perceptual bias(AQPB)and focus on the influence of air pollution on both physical and mental health, combining with the method of questionnaire investigation and emotion stroop paradigm.Specifically,a total of 975 residents living in the regions at 3 different air quality levels were surveyed with the symptom checklist 90(SCL-90)and cornell medical index(CMI),to investigate the diversities of residents’ physical and mental health among the regions at 3 different air quality levels and the fuction of AQPB;surveyed 215 college students in both haze and non-haze weather with the symptom checklist 90(SCL-90),chinese perceived stress scale(CPSS)and the positive and negative affect scale(PANAS),to investigate the diversities of mental health among haze and non-haze weather, the emotion effect of air pollution and the the mechanism inside it;take 45 college students as objects of emotion stroop test,to verify the impact of the visual stimuli of air pollution on implicit emotion.According to the above research results, get the following main conclusions:(1)Air pollution can negative impact residents’ physical and mental health.Physically, mainly including respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, genitourinary system, skin, fatigue, digestive system, habit and past illnesses;Mentally, mainly including somatization, compulsion, interpersonal relationship, depression, anxiety, hostility, horror, bigoted and psychosis;(2)Residents’ physical and mental health show significant difference among the regions at 3 different air quality levels and the detection rates of somatoform symptoms and psychological symptoms are lowest in good air quality region, middle in the region with more serious air pollution and highest in the region with serious air pollution;(3)The detection rate of psychological symptoms is positively correlated with the detection rate of somatoform symptoms;(4)Air quality perceptual bias(AQPB)is an important factor for residents’ physical and mental health and shows significant difference in sex and air quality region type.Men’s air quality perception is more positive than women and the AQPB of residents living in the region with serious air pollution is bigger than those who live in good air quality region and more serious air pollution region. The more positive the air quality perception is,the lower the detection rates of somatoform symptoms and psychological symptoms would be;(5)Air quality perceptual bias(AQPB)contributes more to the detection rate of psychological symptoms than objective air quality;(6)College students’ mental health show significant difference in haze and non-haze weather and the psychological symptoms, perceived stress and negative emotion is more in haze weather than in non-haze weather, while positive emotion is less in haze weather than in non-haze weather;(7)Sex is an important factor for college students’ psychological symptoms, perceived stress and positive-negative emotions and men is better than women generally.Sex is also an important factor for the change of psychological symptoms, perceived stress and positive-negative emotions in haze and non-haze weather. The change of psychological symptoms, perceived stress and positive-negative emotions of men is significantly bigger than women, which means men are more susceptible to air pollution;(8)The change of perceived stress shows significant difference in household and one-child situation, especaillyy in the loss-control feeling dimention. The students born in towns and citys are more susceptible to air pollution than those who is born in countries and the only children are more susceptible to air pollution than non-only children;(9)Air quality perceptual bias(AQPB)is an important factor for college students’ psychological symptoms, perceived stress and positive-negative emotions and AQPB is positively correlated with the detection rate of somatoform symptoms, perceived stress and negative emotions and negatively correlated with positive emotion;(10)AQPB is an important factor for the change of college students’ psychological symptoms, perceived stress and positive-negative emotions in haze and non-haze weathers. The bigger the AQPB is,which means the more negative the air quality perception is,the bigger the change of psychological symptoms and the smaller the change of perceived stress and positive-negative emotions would be;(11)AQPB can negatively predict positive emotion and positively predict negative emotion.Perceived stress and psychological symptoms play the role of intermediary between AQPB and positive-negative emotions, while the perceived stress contributes more than psychological symptoms;(12)Visual stimuli of air pollution is an important factor for implicit emotion and the more serious the air pollution is,the less the positive emotion and the more the negative emotion would be;(13)The visual stimuli type of air pollution and sex have significant interactive effects on the average reaction time of negative emotional words. The negative emotion of women is more susceptible to the visual simuli of air pollution... |
