Study Of Interpreter’s Dominating Role In Financial English Interpreting From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

In recent years,with the steady progress on the openness of the financial market,China has more frequent exchanges and cooperation with the world in the financial field.As a kind of English for special purpose,financial English is a highly specialized language,and this poses great challenges to the interpreter.As a new ecological translation paradigm,eco-translatology has contributed new description and explanation to the process,nature,standard and principle of translation from a new angle,which provides a scientific approach and systematic theoretical prop to interpretation studies.Based on the translation as adaptation and selection of eco-translatology,this thesis conducts a case study of interpreter’s dominating role in the process of financial English interpreting.All the financial cases are from press conferences by the Premier during the two sessions from 2010 to 2017(not including 2013).On the one hand,this thesis tries to analyze how the interpreter plays a dominating role in the process of financial English interpreting to make adaptive and selective transformation in the specific interpretational eco-environment from linguistic;cultural and communicative dimensions.On the other hand,this thesis performs an evaluation and analysis on the interpreted rendition’s degree of holistic adaptation and selection and interpreter’s dominating role under the guidance of "post-event" penalty.Ultimately,there are two findings as follows:(1)When playing a dominating role in the process of financial English interpreting,the interpreter should ceaselessly and dynamically make multi-dimensional adaptive and selective transformation so as to fit the given interpretational eco-environment.The interpreter should make adaptive and selective transformation on both the level of words,phrases and sentences at linguistic dimension,deliver and interpret the cultural connotation of source language at cultural dimension,and be faithful to the speaker’s intention and take the target listeners into consideration at communicative dimension.There is no clear dividing line among dimensions and these dimensions are intertwined,mixed,complementary and interdependent.(2)The dominant right of interpreter in the process of financial English interpreting is limited and the interpreter is tested by the interpretational eco-environment at any time and judged by the "post-event penalty" mechanism.To sum up,this thesis intends to enrich the application of eco-translatology and provides a practical guidance for financial English interpreters so as to further improve the quality of financial English interpretation..
