The "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History" course for international students in China is an integral part of Chinese language and Chinese culture and education curriculum system and is of great significance and value for foreign students to see China and understand China.In recent years,however,the "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History" course offered for foreign students does not produce an ideal classroom effect,so its teaching effectiveness is worthy of in-depth exploration.The paper uses Guangxi University as an example,takes the "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History" course for international students as the object,and probes into the questions of what are the standards of effective teaching in this course and how to optimize this course.Research methods in this paper include literature research method,interview and investigation method,teaching reflection method and classroom practice observation method.The paper firstly combs the research findings of previous researchers,and obtains the three points of the effective teaching of the "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History"course by referring to relevant literature and carrying out analysis:1.Teaching objectives are reached;2.Teaching content is practical;3.Classroom teaching is efficient.It also concludes the six features this course should have in order to be effective:1.Students can basically read the teaching materials;2.Teachers' teaching language is easy for students to understand;3.Students are not confused about historical issues;4.Teachers make full use of multimedia teaching methods;5.Students are willing to participate in classroom discussions;6.A harmonious,friendly,relaxed and pleasant classroom atmosphere.Secondly,this paper formulates an effective teaching standard framework of "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History" course by referring to domestic and overseas effective teaching standards and relevant course outlines,analyzing the current situation of this course for international students in Guangxi University and the demands of these students,and combining with the teaching reflection of teachers and observation results of classroom teaching practice.The framework in accordance with the process for a class is divided into 5 chunks,which are pre-class preparation,classroom teaching,classroom activities,assignments and assessment and extracurricular practice,and contains 27 detailed rules for the implementation.The author conducts qualitative analysis on the standard framework from the theoretical side,and then supplements,modifies and improves the framework after listening to experienced fellows' evaluations,integrating different opinions and making further exploration,and the detailed rules are in the end expanded to 28.Finally,after qualitative theoretical discussion and research,the detailed indexes of standard framework proposed by this paper are able to meet the general rules of teaching and can reflect the course features of historical teaching for foreign students studying in China,which is helpful for teachers to examine their own teaching effectiveness and is in line with the requirement of cultural awareness of "International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education".Based on above analysis and discussion,six proposals of improving teaching are given in the paper.The six proposals are grounded on the overall requirements and standard framework of effective teaching and possess the six features of effective teaching mentioned above,providing reference for teachers to optimize the course teaching of "Modern and Contemporary Chinese History".
