The Study Of The Modern Shanghai's Soap Industry

The article is based on the Chinese Maritime Customs Historical Material,Materials Onchinese Modern Industrial History and some newspapers,such as Shen Daily,mainly researching the development of the soap industry in Shanghai.The wave development momentum reflects the change of society's economy and cultural.It impacts on the economic construction and social development in Shanghai.The author tries to expound the development of the modern Shanghai soap industry in four aspects.The first section focuses on the origin of modern soap industry in China and west.The modern soap industry is born in the western.Until the 1760 s,with the occurrence of the industrial revolution,the soap industry used machines for soapmaking.Into the 19 th century,the soapmaking came into a period of industrialized mass production.By 1888,the modern soap industry began to appear in China.Subsequently,Shanghai gradually became the center of Chinese soap industry with its unique industrial advantages.The second part introduces the modern Shanghai foreign soap industry.Since Shanghai opened as the treaty port,Britain and Japan jointly carved up its soap-market.The UK,with its strong industrial strength to take the lead in occupying the laundry soap market.Followed,Japanese also began into the cosmetic soap industry.The third part discusses the development of modern Shanghai national soap industry.After world war I,the national soap factories had sprung up.In 1920,with boycott foreign goods movement intensified,national soap industry was growing up.But from the beginning of the rise,the competition between foreign and Chinese were never ceased.The fourth part emphatically discusses the influence on the development of the modern Shanghai soap industry.Pointed out that the development of Shanghai soap industry promoted relative industries to develop.And it also made people's concept of health and fashion changed gradually.Through introduction of the progress of setting up brands and strengthening business management,the author analyzes the modern Shanghai soap industry's experience and lessons to current soap industry.
