A Comparative Study Of Chinese And Thai Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia is a special type of words in modern language,it simulates the sounds of the world.It's formation and development related to human life.Onomatopoeia as a linguistic sign,every language includes it.Because of geographical,environmental,ethnic,living habits and other aspects in all languages the ways of expressing onomatopoeia are different.Onomatopoeia is used in both Chinese and Thai languages.The use of onomatopoeia can be found in both spoken and written language,make expression meaningful and colorful.But the similarities and differences between Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia phenomenon make some troubles in the process of studying.For successful studying and communication,researchers of both countries China and Thailand should understand specifics of opposite language.Therefore,this article is based on Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia difference syllable,pronunciation and syntax aspects research and classification,and describing the factors that affect Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia.Also we analyzed and discussed Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia words.At first by comparing the Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia,the similarities and differences between two language onomatopoeia words has been discussed.As Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia syllable structure is different,contain a monosyllable,two-syllable,three-syllable and four-syllable of Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia.Then compare and analyze the category of Chinese and Thai pronunciation of onomatopoeia.Then compare and analyze the sounds of people,the sounds of animals,the sounds of things and the sounds of nature;Then we compared and analyzed syntactic function of Chinese and Thai onomatopoeia as subject,predicate,object,attributive,adverbial,complement and other grammatical functions.Finally,on the basis of the above research,we pointed out the factors affecting the onomatopoeia in Chinese and Thai,such as the influence of natural conditions,religious beliefs and language features on onomatopoeia in Chinese and Thai.The author hopes that this thesis can help researches.
