Abbreviations Comparative Research Between Modern Chinese Dictionary 7th Edition And Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary 3rd Edition

Abbreviations are important part of modern Chinese vocabulary.When researching on synchronic state of vocabulary system,a dictionary is an irreplaceable and valuable material.Both Modern Chinese Dictionary and Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary are medium language dictionaries.Their aims are to promote mandarin and promote the standardization of modern Chinese.In order to benefit the research on abbreviations and dictionary compilation,this paper horizontally analyzes abbreviations recorded in two dictionaries in terms of recorded situation,system,word form and definition.This paper mainly includes six parts.The first part mainly expounds the basis of this thesis topic,research objectives,significance,research methods.The second part mainly investigates the number of abbreviations in Modern Chinese Dictionary and Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary.This part counts up the number of abbreviations in terms of type,parts of speech,syllable and expounds the characteristics of abbreviations in detail.This part specifically analyzes the similarities and differences on abbreviations in number and system.Abbreviations mainly have correspondence,reversibility,double syllable trend in form and abbreviations are limited by region,industry,and cultural level.The third part mainly analyzes the system of two dictionaries and expounds the cause of the differences.The fourth part mainly analyzes the word form of abbreviations in two dictionaries.Based on People’s Daily databases and BCC databases,this part makes the comprehensive analysis and description.The fifth part mainly analyzes the definition of abbreviations in two dictionaries.This part expounds the differences of the number of definition senses,the arrangement of senses,interpretation terms and part of speech in detail.Finally,the existing problems of the definition of abbreviations are pointed out.The sixth part is the conclusion.
