The Effects Of Adult Attachment And Savoring On The Long Distance Romantic Relationship Satisfication

In order to explore the influence of adult attachment on the long distance romantic relationship(LDR)and the role of savoring ability and saovoring process,this study was divided into three parts:First,we used the questionnaire to investigate the types of love,attachment and relationship satisfaction among 620 college students.Second,we used the questionnaire to investigate the effect of savoring ability on the LDR satisfaction of students which have different attachment type.Third,we used experiment to investigate the effect of savoring process on the LDR satisfaction of students which have different attachment type.Results are as follows:(1)The relationship satisfaction of LDR was significantly lower than that of Geographically Close Relationship(GCR).Regardless of the type of love,secure attachment have the highest satisfaction,the preoccupied attachment was second,the fear and dismiss attachment was lowest.(2)Savoring ability can adjust the difference of relationship satisfaction among different attachment types.For instance: secure or preoccupied attachment scored higher on savoring,the relationship satisfaction will be higher;But the relationship satisfaction of dismiss and fearful attachment will be hightest only when the savoring’s score in the middle.(3)The savoring process could improve the relationship satisfaction of LDR.In this process,the positive emotion increased and the negative emotion reduced.The relationship satisfaction of four types of attachment were increased.But the variation in relationship satisfaction,positive and negative emotion,and the word use frequency in mental reflect task were not significantly different among the four types of attachment.The conclusion is that students in LDR have lower relationship satisfaction than those in GCR.There is significant difference in relationship satisfaction between different attachment types and savoring ability plays a moderating role.Regardless of whether the attachment type is safe or not,the relationship satisfaction can be improved by practicing savoring.
