| Online social networking is an important way for college students to interact with their partner.Romantic love in college students requires commitment just as it does in adults, that is,the desire to maintain a long-term or short-term intimate relationship, and commitment is an important component of high-quality and more stable love.Relationship visibility is a quick way for college students to express their commitment to a relationship. However, there are still inconsistencies in the research on relationship visibility and relationship quality.Overall, individuals’ public disclosure of romantic relationship information on social media can increase the sense of belonging between partners and satisfy their need for connection, but can also lead to negative outcomes such as jealousy or interpersonal monitoring. Therefore,it is important to further consider the mechanism of relationship visibility.Secure attachment relationship is one of the important factors for college students to establish close relationship and have good relationship satisfaction. However, few studies have explored the effect of relationship visibility on attachment traits, especially attachment anxiety, and its role in relationship visibility and relationship satisfaction. Therefore, this study explores the influence of romantic relationship visibility on relationship satisfaction, and the role of attachment anxiety,by using We Chat as a platform and combining single and paired samples. Two studies were conducted.Study 1 recruited 1,176 individuals in romantic relationships and used questionnaires to investigate the mediating role of attachment anxiety in individuals’ perceived visibility into their relationship and their own relationship satisfaction. The results show that the public presentation of romantic relationship on We Chat has a significant positive predictive effect on relationship satisfaction, and a significant negative predictive effect on attachment anxiety intensity.Attachment anxiety partially mediates relationship visibility and relationship satisfaction. In the Study 2,276 pairs in romantic relationships were recruited and also measured by questionnaires to explore the host-object and mediating effects of attachment anxiety on visible relationship behaviors and relationship satisfaction. The results show that in paired relationships, women’s perception of relationship satisfaction is influenced not only by their own relationship visibility, but also by their partner’s relationship visibility;Women’s attachment anxiety was also influenced by their own and their partner’s relationship visibility; Finally, women’s attachment anxiety only mediates the relationship visibility and relationship satisfaction, while men’s attachment anxiety mediates the relationship visibility and relationship satisfaction. |
