A Translation Report On Inheritance (Excerpts)

In the translation report,the translator chooses a characteristic full-length novel named Inheritance(2004)accomplished by the distinguished Chinese American writer Lan Samantha Chang.It is divided into five parts,of which the third part(Occupation)is the key point of the translator.As a biographical novel,Inheritance narrates the whole story from the historical and cultural perspective.Not only does the author vividly describes major characters such as Chanyi,Junan,Yinan and Li Ang,but also reveals the inheritance of cultural tradition of early Chinese Americans through their contacts and conflicts with each other.Based on the linguistic features of the selected text,the translator makes an intensive analysis on related issues from the perspective of Eco-translatology in linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions during the translation process.There are four chapters of this translation report.The first chapter is about task description,which includes introduction to the translation task(including the work and the author)as well as the research significance;the second chapter explores procedure description including preparation,while-translating and proofreading;and the third chapter is involved with case study,which mainly focuses on Eco-translatology from the linguistic,cultural and communicative dimension and makes relevant case analysis;while in the last chapter,the author makes a brief conclusion which mainly covers personal reflections after the translation practice and some problems to be solved in the near future.
