| As an essential media of information communication and transfer,news has played anirreplaceable role in people’s daily life.Increasing number of people have begun to focus on international news so as to directly understand westerners’ opinions about the world.However,there exists a lot of understanding obstacles in English news delivery because of the language and culture differences between China and the West.One of the difficulties for non-native readers to understand are numerous terms,which are also one of the difficult obstacles for the author to translate English news into Chinese in the translation practice.Due to less domestic and foreign research on terms translation of news,the author intends to tentatively study on this particular topic with the help of some related research achievements and personal net news translation practice.News in U.S.News & World Report from October,2015 to December,2016 has been collected and translated into Chinese.On this basis,some of the terms translation have been modified and revised with the guidance of German Functionalist Theory;the author has selected some typical terms of news as the study examples,through the comparison and analysis of two different translation versions,the author has summarized three basic translating methods of terms in news— literal translation,omission and addition.Therefore,this report is a specialized study on terms translation of news.The author’s skills and competence have been greatly improved after the research.More importantly,this translation report can offer some references to other translation greenhands. |
