| English news is the important source of information for the international communication.So E-C translation of news plays a crucial role in helping Chinese readers get to know international affairs and promote global cultural communication.This present study is a report on my Chinese translations of thirteen English articles on interesting news during my internship in China Daily’s Web---"news".In views of the characteristics of interesting news,the report with the guidance of the Skopos theory,selects some typical examples of the translations and analyses the translation difficulties in three aspects---news titles,words,and sentences.It expounds how the author addresses these problems during the translation and summarizes the author’s experience of how to apply the translation theory into practice to achieve the optimum effect.The findings in this the report reveal three points which the author thinks translators should hold:Firstly,translators shall read through the whole article when translating English news,especially interesting original texts.Only by completely understanding the connotations of news titles,words,sentences and discourses can the translator do the translation.Secondly,owing to the differences of thinking models between Chinese and English,translators should translate the texts from the perspective of the target readers.The translated text should conform to Chinese readers’ reading habits to avoid translationese.Thirdly,the first version of the translation generally is not good enough and needs checking and revising for several times.Lastly,translators should adjust their mentality to overcome the hardships while translating,proofreading and modifying the texts.The author hopes that this report could offer some benefits and help for other translators in translating English news. |
