A Study Of Gaochun Dialect

Gaochun is located in the southwest of Nanjing in Jiangsu province. On the north, this city is adjacent to Lishui, and on the east it is connected to liyang. From the west and south sides, it is connected with three countries of Anhui province, Langxi, Xuancheng, and Dangtu.Gaochun dialect used by the local people belongs to the Wu dialect, but there are still some controversy on the specific dialect district.The author takes the mother tongue dialect —Gaochun langue as the research object, to have a more comprehensive synchronic description of the voice, vocabulary, grammar of this region, so as to explore the basic characteristics of Gaochun dialect, and the track of Chinese historical evolution.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the general situation of Gaochun and Gaochun dialect. It mainly introduces the geographical, demographic and historical evolution of Gaochun area, the historical origin of Gaochun dialect and the current usage. The second part is the research on phonetic system of Gaochun dialect. It describes the phonetic system of Gaochun dialect and the coordination relationships among the initials, finals and tones, and from a diachronic perspective it compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between the phonetic system of Gaochun dialect and Ancient Chinese Phonology, Putonghua phonology.The third part is the study on the vocabulary of Gaochun dialect. It mainly records the distinctive commonly used vocabulary of Gaochun dialect, and verifies part of the words in Gaochun dialect by using the method of verifying the dialect words, aimed at discovering the usage of Gaochun dialect from ancient Chinese words. The fourth part is the research of special grammar phenomena in Gaochun dialect. In this part, it is divided into two chapters,morphology and syntax, to highlight the special significance of Gaochun dialect in grammar.The morphology part introduces the special affix and overlapping in Gaochun dialect; the syntax part introduces the special “VP(+N)” sentences, interrogative sentences, ba constructions and passive sentences in Gaochun dialect.
