Report On The Translation Of China:Food Security And Agricultural Going Out Strategy Research

Agriculture,the foundation of China's economy,is the focus of China's national economic strategy.With the further deepening of globalization and the improvement of China's comprehensive national strength,China's agricultural policies have aroused the interest of many foreign specialists.Against this backdrop,the translator chose China: Food Security and Agricultural Going Out Strategy Research as the translation practice.More specifically,this translation practice is excerpted from the first section and sixth section of the third chapter,which is concerned with the future development trend of China's grain trade through the analysis of the data of international grain production.According to Peter Newmark's theory of text type,the source text belongs to informative text and the translator should pay close attention to readers and make efforts to convey the information of the source text accurately.The translator chose keeping the accuracy of the information as translation strategy so as to deal with problems appearing in the translation process.In the part of case study,the translator explored how to keep accuracy in translating terms,synonyms,logic and figures,and presented their corresponding solutions.As for terms,the translator consulted many documents for corresponding expressions,and applied free translation with explanation for certain terms;with regard to synonyms,proper words were chosen on the basis of the source text;as for logical relation,the translator rearranged the order of the sentence,adopted passive voice and the attributive clauses to make the translation more idiomatic;in terms of figures,accurately expressing the relations of figures is essential to avoid ambiguity.This report aims to offer information to experts in the field of agronomy at home and abroad and also serves as the reference for other translators in selecting and applying translation strategy and translation methods for similar works.
