With the rapid growth of economy and the promotion of China’s international status,combined with China’s distinctive historical culture resources,an increasing number of foreign tourists come to travel in China.Beijing as China’s political and cultural centre,and held the 2008 Olympic Games successfully,which attracts worldwide attention absolutely.More and more people consult tourist information to get a better experience before beginning the journey.So the translation of tourist information has become more and more popular.This translation practice report is finished on the base of the translation of Frommer’s Beijing(excerpts)which is written by Jen Lin-liu and Sherisse Pham.This book introduces tourism resources in Beijing in detail,from little-known historical background to booming economic situation,from carefree shopping experience to colorful nightlife,from accommodation to dining,from hutong to tall buildings.Chinese and foreign tourists can feel different Beijing.The reporter is guided by Functional Equivalence Theory of Nida and divided into six parts: Part One is an introduction to the translation practice background and its significance.Part Two introduces the book,the writers and analyzes the language characteristics.Part Three introduces the preparation before interpretation,first draft and examination.Part four introduces the Functional Equivalence Theory which includes the concept,guiding principle and translation methods.Part five combines the translation methods and analyzes the examples on lexical and syntactic levels.Part Six analyzes the experience and disadvantages of the translation practice and brings the forward the direction of study in future.
