The translator chose The Fourteenth Goldfish as the source text of her translation report.Since time and energy are limited, she only translated the first fifteen chapters from English to Chinese(about 20000 words). And on this basis, she made an in-depth discussion on the translation strategies and wrote translation practice report. There are three reasons why she chose this book, firstly,This book was newly published in 2014 and it has no Chinese version till now which means this is the first time it is translated into Chinese.Secondly, the theme of this book is about growth and it tells a large number of science knowledge in a relaxed way.It can help to expand children's knowledge and broaden their horizon.Lastly, the translator is interested in children's literature, also she is a student of translation major. So she hopes to have a better understanding of children's literature and improves her translation ability. Also, she hopes that her report can benefit other people's research in the future on this field. This translation report consists of four parts, the first part is description of the task including introduction to the selected text, introduction to the author, summary of the book and incentives of the translation. The second part is description of the process including pre-translation preparation, schedule and post-translation management. The third part is case study including the guiding translation principle used during the whole translation process and some examples. The last part is conclusion of this translation practice.
