Translation Report Of Children’s Science Fiction Cryptid Hunters

This paper is a translation report.The original book is a children’s science fiction Cryptid Hunters written by American children’s author Roland Smith,which mainly tells the adventures of the sibling in Congo.The translator believes that excellent children’s science fiction can not only spread popular science knowledge,but also exert an imperceptible influence on the growing children by the educational significance contained in the stories.For its text type,the translation of science fiction is classified into literary translation.Considering the readership of Cryptid Hunters,the translator believes that the translation variation theory proposed by Professor Huang Zhonglian confirms the translator’s subjectivity and provides a series of effective guidance methods to deal with the original text.By using three specific translation methods of translation plus explanation,translation plus writing and translation plus rewriting,the translator tries to make the translation keep the relaxing and humorous language style of the original text as much as possible on the basis of accurately conveying the original content and to make it close to the reading preference of children so as to enable children to harvest happiness and knowledge in the process of reading.In the aspect of book promotion,the translator recommends the book to the publishing house by using two methods of condensed translation and translation plus comment,hoping to realize the value of the book as children’s literature.
