As the precious historical wealth,folklore provides vigorous force for future development of culture.Presently,however,protection for folklore in our country is worrisome.The rapid changes in the economic tides and continuous shift of life styles have resulted in increasingly great loss in this respect,which is even more a truth to folklore in North China.As a translation report,this practice selects the eighth chapter: Gu'an Rural Folk Culture-Auspicious and Elegant Village Names as the translation subject.This book demonstrates along the historical advancing process of characters,customs,cultures,arts and historical events of Gu'an with illustrations and descriptions in detail.The eighth chapter is especially a panoramic depiction of the splendid culture of village names.This report is divided into six parts to respectively introduce the background of this practice,the theoretical basis and previous study,the original text and the writer as well as the language features in the original text,and the translation process.Apart from that,the translation methods of culture-loaded words,Chinese allusions,Chinese poetry,Chinese ancient style prose and category words have been exemplified in detail under the guidance of Cultural Translation Theory.In the end,the report comes to a conclusion,expounding the experience and harvest as well as problems in the translation practice.This translation practice is designed not only to exercise the translation ability of the author,but also lay a foundation for the broadcasting of Gu'an folk culture.
