| In recent years,great efforts have been made in the creation of biographical literature as well as the translation of English biographies.More and more scholars both at home and abroad attach great importance to this field.As one of the most important disciplines among contemporary literary study,biographical literature is a unique combination of literariness and historicity.When translating this kind of text,translators should try to achieve faithfulness to the source text and retain the literary flavor at the same time.Biographical literature A Great Unrecorded History: A New Life of E.M.Forster is about the unknown side of E.M.Forster,one of the greatest English writers in the 20 th century.Through citing relevant letters,diaries and memories of Forster's friends,and using some literary descriptions,Wendy Moffat,writer of this book,disclosed the private life of E.M.Forster in detail.In this report,the translation of two chapters of this book is studied and analyzed in light of the three rules of Skopos Theory.This report consists of five parts.The first part is task description.In Part Two,the author introduces the translation theory used in this report.Part Three is translation process description.Part Four is case analysis,in which the author illustrates the translation strategies and methods combined with typical cases.And the last part is conclusion. |
