Objectives: To investigate the mental health condition and characteristics of rural left-behind children,to discuss the relationship between social support and mental health,in which the mediating effects of self consistency was also analyzed,hoping to determine the focus of the rural left-behind children's mental health education.Based on the above,some targeted intervention measures were developed to provide scientific and effective theoretical basis for solving the psychological problems of rural left-behind children.Methods: Using the self-made individual basic situation questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale,Self Consistency and Congruence Scale and Mental Health diagnostic Test to investigate primary and middle school students in grade 3 ~ 8 who are from Langzhong and Mianyang in Sichuan Province.Conclusions:(1)The mental health level of left-behind children was significantly lower than the non-left-behind children.(2)There was no significant difference in the total score of social supports and self consistency between boys and girls,while there was significant difference in the level of mental health between boys and girls,and the level of boys are higher than girls;there was no significant difference in social supports,self consistency,and mental health in the all demographic variables except the gender.(3)correlative analysis indicated that there was remarkable relevance between social support or its various dimensions and left-behind children's mental health.(4)Self consistency and congruence was significantly positively correlated with mental health;While disharmony between self and experience and self-rigidness were negatively significantly related with mental health,and there was no significant correlation between self-flexibility and mental health.(5)There was significant positive correlation between the degree of social support and self harmonious of left-behind children.(6)Social support and self consistency both can significantly predicate the mental health of left-behind children.(7)The self consistency and congruence played an intermediary role between social support and mental health.The mediating effect was significant,and the proportion of it was 52.7 percent.Proposals: Based on the analysis of the relationship between social support and rural left-behind children's mental health and the mediating effects of self consistency and congruence,effective strategies for improving the level of left-behind children's mental health were proposed from two aspects of social support and self consistency.In the aspect of social support: first,reconstructing the family education and regarding the emotional support as a link to build a good parent-child relationship;Second,strengthening the school education and establishing reasonable system of school education;Third,developing the social culture and reversing the mental health condition of left-behind children from the source.Fourth,attaching great importance to the self-regulation for more effective social supports.In the aspect of self consistency and congruence: first,paying attention to personality education to promote to form the correct self awareness and utter self-acceptance;Second,promoting self-generation and constructing the internal spontaneous remedy mechanism.
